Our passion is providing software to the youth activities and learning market. The Jackrabbit system was designed specifically for youth class-based programs and children's learning & activity centers of all sizes.

Our clients have programs that range from 25 students to the largest multi-discipline youth teaching center in the U.S. with over 5200 active students. We also have long term agreements with large franchise organizations with locations all over the U.S. and Asia.

Management Team

Mark Mahoney, CoFounder

Mark Mahoney's passion is solving business problems with technology. Mark has been involved in organized youth sports since 1973 and has instructed, coached and owned sports facilities. Mark developed Class Master, a class management system, in the 80's and sold it to another company. Due to the large number of previous clients asking Mark to develop another system, he decided to build a web-based application to eliminate the need for owners to worry about database backups, software updates and technical issues.

Mark brings 22 years of experience in information technology and has sold over 20 million dollars in software and services. Mark serves on the MIS Advisory Board for the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He also belongs to the National Eagle Scout Association.

Mark holds a BBA from the University of Georgia and enjoys marathons, water skiing and backpacking. Mark loves living in Charlotte and spending time with his wife Cheryl and children: Alice Ann, Christian and Katie Ann.

Mike Carper, CoFounder
Director of Technology & Services

Mike's passion is designing and developing software applications. In the early 90's, Mike started out as a software consultant in Charlotte's rapidly growing banking industry, and worked with Mark at the same consulting firm. In 1997, Mike left the consulting world to co-found his first company developing international banking software. While this company transitioned into more staffing-based consulting, Mike wanted to continue developing software with dreams of building a product. Since 2000, Mike has turned his attention to developing web applications for smaller businesses where the impacts are immediate, strong and often personal. In 2004, Mike met Mark for lunch and the rest is, as they say, history.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Adminstration with a concentration in Mgmt. Info. Systems from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mike enjoys developing software (no, really!), running, golf, sailing on the lake and spending time with his wife Christy and their two children.



Tim Owens, Senior Developer

Tim has been developing web-based enterprise level applications for 10 years. He has experience in numerous areas including retail, finance, and recreational. He also served as a senior-level .NET consultant with a Microsoft Gold Partner for two years. He has a wealth of knowledge in the areas of the .NET framework, OOP, and MSSQL. Tim strives in developing applications that are built with both optimal performance and security in mind. He stays constantly in tune with all the new related technologies. Tim holds a BSBA in Information Systems from Appalachian State University.



Jim Towne, Senior Developer

Jim has been in the Information Technology industry since 1998 building desktop and web applications using mostly Microsoft products. He has worked on applications for manufacturing, service, insurance, biotech and health care companies. As a Microsoft Certified Professional he is always trying to stay on top of the latest tools, technologies and industry standards. Jim lives for being challenged every day and the feeling of satisfaction that comes when a customer says they are happy. He enjoys building solutions that make people's lives easier.

After high school Jim joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves and while serving at Andrews AFB outside of Washington DC he joined the Metropolitan Police Dept. where he worked for 6 years before deciding to go back to school for his AAS degree in Computer Programming. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and taking the occasional trip to the beaches in the Carolinas.



Brett Cramer, Senior Developer

Brett has a history with the Jackrabbit co-founders dating back to 1994, having worked with both Mark and Mike at the same consulting firm. He continued to work closely with Mike until 2000 when their careers diverged. Since then, Brett has spent the vast majority of the time developing software solutions for many Fortune 100 financial institutions using a wide variety of technologies including both Microsoft and J2EE based platforms and programming languages.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He enjoys golf, swimming, sailing, photography, watching NFL football, and spending time with his wife Jennifer and daughter Lindsay.



Zach Farnham, Developer

Zach has been in Information Technology for 6 years, the last four of which he has spent designing and developing software applications. He has developed and implemented web-based applications in the utility, e-commerce, datacenter, and cloud systems industries. He enjoys being where business needs require technology solutions and leverages both open and closed source technologies to build highly usable and feature-rich applications and interfaces.

Zach holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. When he is not writing code or investigating new technologies Zach likes spending time with his family, playing the guitar, swimming, and going to the gym.



Kelli Tesh, QA Analyst

Kelli has worked in information technology for 10 years. She has a passion to help others. She enjoys being given a problem and working hard to find the resolution. Kelli has a Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Systems from High Point University. In Kelli's spare time she likes to spend quality time with her husband and 2 children. Kelli is also an EMT and volunteer firefighter.



Melanie Ulman, Product Analyst

Melanie's passion has always been to help others in both her career and personal life. She enjoys taking business problems and finding solutions, espcially within the Jackrabbit program.

Melanie received a Bachelor's in Business Administration with an Accounting major and worked in the commercial and residential real estate industry for 8 years. Then in 5 years as Office Manager, she helped grow a dance and gymnastics school to become the largest school in the local area.

Melanie loves spending quality time with her 4 children, traveling and fitness activities.



Christina Deen, User Experience Designer

Christina's journey with Jackrabbit began in 2007 in Customer Support. There she gathered an in-depth understanding for the user experience through the eyes of Jackrabbit's clients. She is always looking for ways to enhance the user experience and loves creating intuitive interfaces that are natural and easy to use. She is passionate about web design and usability. Christina graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is currently studying human computer interaction for a Master's of Science degree in HCI.

Christina enjoys exploring new technologies, photography, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.



Julie Rankin, Marketing Director

Julie Rankin's initial role in Jackrabbit's sales department gave her a keen understanding of what the company's customers need from their business and class management systems. This has provided her with a strong sense of the marketing strategies that it takes to engage with Jackrabbit's potential customers as Marketing Director. Her passion for helping people find good solutions that fit their needs is a catalyst to her success in these areas.

With experience in the diverse areas that make up comprehensive marketing strategies, Julie understands how to plan and implement them successfully. Over the course of her career, Julie has been responsible for the planning, creation and execution of strategic and promotional marketing activities that include Internet marketing, direct mail, literature, press releases, newsletters, trade-shows, and print advertising.

Julie, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Marketing, is an running and fitness fanatic who enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to new places, and taking beach trips with her son.



Sara Beth Jones, Online Communication Specialist

Sara Beth Jones is a 2012 graduate from Queens University of Charlotte earning, a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communications and minors in New Media Design and Psychology. Her education combined with work experience have given Sara Beth knowledge and creativity for the marketing field. A social media fanatic and proponent of the digital world, she understands the importance of technology and the impact it has on connecting an audience. Additionally, she is a board member for Social Media Charlotte and on the e-communications team for TEDxCharlotte. She loves staying connected and involved in the Charlotte community. Sara Beth also enjoys playing sports, scuba diving, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.



Karissa Parker, Sales Representative

Karissa graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing in 2005. She has since worked in retail management and has several years of sales and customer service experience. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to new places, doing new things and just being outside!



Hannah Woodard, Sales Representative

Hannah has several years experience in corporate tax planning including sales, implementation and client service. Hannah graduated from Appalachian State University in 1994 with a BSBA in Accounting. After passing the CPA examination, Hannah served as a Project Manager in the Federal Tax Consulting Practice of Ernst and Young, LLP. She worked closely with clients to help them achieve their business objectives while maximizing earnings. In February of 2000, Hannah left the corporate world to devote her time to caring for her daughter and two sons. Now she spends most of the her free time with her children at the soccer fields and at swim meets. She also enjoys boating, hiking and vacationing with her family at Bald Head Island.



Christy Carper, Billing & System Administration Manager

Since its inception, Christy has served Jackrabbit and its clients. During Jackrabbit's development in 2004, she supported her husband, Mike, and business partner, Mark - acting as cheerleader for their new venture. Soon after Jackrabbit's launch, the client base quickly grew, and the "behind the scenes" support role turned into an official Customer Support & Billing position. For 2.5 years Christy continued the dual roles, while helping grow the Customer Support Team. Since 2008 Christy has served as Jackrabbit's Billing and Systems Administration Manager.

Prior to joining Jackrabbit, Christy enjoyed 15 years in various Client/Customer Service roles at both branch and Corporate levels. Her positions included Technical Recruiter, Corporate Recruiting Trainer, Public Relations Manager and Direct Sales. Her passion has always been driven by a desire to help people and improve processes.

Christy earned her Bachelor of Science in Distributive Education in 1991 from Winthrop College. Her free time is spent with her husband, Mike - raising their two children, John and Rachel; and enjoying the Lake with family and friends.



Cheryl Leonard, Billing Administrator

Cheryl has over 10 years experience in Planning and Allocation for various retailers in the Boston area. She began her career as an assistant store manager and most recently was a Planning Manager for a nationwide women's apparel chain. She is fueled by new challenges and her strong desire to be the best she can be.

Cheryl earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut in 1991. She later earned a Master's in Education from The University of Massachusetts at Boston. She is teaching certified in MA. She was previously an assistant dance teacher at Wendy's School of Dance in CT.

In her free time Cheryl enjoys practicing yoga and enjoying the warm climate in Charlotte with her husband, Dave, and their three daughters.



Christie Foster, Billing Administrator

Christie has over 22 years of experience in the Information Services field including Project Management, Customer Relations, Client Training & Development and Corporate Operations Management. She is able to add value by identifying and meeting others needs. Her gratification comes when she is able to exceed her clients expectations.

Christie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Clemson University. Her free time is spent with her family which includes two daughters Victoria and Erika.



Carol Futch, Billing Administrator

Before coming to Jackrabbit Technologies, Carol had worked as an Information Technology Professional in the banking software industry primarily as a Nortel Telecommunications Administrator, Help Desk Coordinator, and Project Manager. She has an A.S. in Business Computer Programming. Carol and Jackrabbit co-founder, Mark Mahoney, worked together for the software and consulting firm, Broadway & Seymour Inc., dating back to 1988. Carol enjoys working with people who are passionate about what they do and is contributing her experience in customer support to our Billing team.

Carol is the baby of five siblings and was born & raised in Charlotte, NC. Her world revolves around her husband, Ken, and son, Mitchell, and all the adventures they can get into. She loves sports, loves to entertain, go to concerts, travel, snow ski, and loves the Carolina Panthers.



Michele Wissman, Billing Administrator

Michele has spent over 15 years in Hospitality Management with OSI Restaurant Group. Throughout those years she has held various positions from Regional Administrative Assistant, Corporate International Trainer and Regional Director of Training & Management Development for Northeastern Ohio. Other experience in the client service industry includes Hospitality Recruiting and Scheduling.

She is passionate about delivering a great customer experience through meeting and exceeding customer expectations. In her free time she enjoys running, cross-fit, and spending time with her three daughters.



Jill Purdy, Public Relations

With a media and marketing-centric background, Jill Purdy has developed a broad base of knowledge from which she offers technology-centric marketing and public relations solutions. Trained in graphic design at the University of Georgia's internationally known Lamar Dodd School of Art, and armed with a background that includes positions as Art Director, Editor and Marketing Director, Jill contributes expertise in multiple media vehicles including direct mail, the Internet, television and newspaper and offers experience in marketing and public relations needs of every kind.

Jill has helped more than 2 dozen growth-focused technology companies implement marketing and public relations fundamentals and use them to generate awareness and expand market presence. Jill helps Jackrabbit combine today's Internet tools with more traditional vehicles in implementing a public relations strategy that is focused on gaining visibility and recognition with clients and prospective clients in Jackrabbit's eight market segments.

Graduate of the University of Georgia with a BFA in graphic design, Jill is an avid football fan and gourmet chef who enjoys entertaining, singing, fitness programs and spoiling her four grandchildren.



Jorine Jones, Customer Service

After Graduating from Simon Fraser University, in 1991, Jorine spent 10 years in Customer support, starting as the Customer Service Manager for an at home/order by catalogue clothing company in Vancouver, Canada. Later she moved to telecommunications and spent 7 years as a System Designer and Customer Liaison for a Telecommunications Company. She left the public work force to stay at home and raise her two boys. In her personal spare time Jorine enjoys antiquing and the endless quest for the perfect deal!



Janet Bartlett, Customer Service

Janet has a diverse working background from Administrative Assistant and Group Sales Manager for two restaurant organizations to the Marketing Administrator for a National Author & Public Speaker. Most recently Janet founded a specialized transportation business in North Carolina. She grew up in Northern California and spent time both in Sonoma and Lake Tahoe before relocating to North Carolina.

Janet spends her free time with her husband & son playing golf, visiting family, and always looking forward to her next trip to the beach.



Heather Mueller, Customer Service

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Heather attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Information Systems from the University of Redlands. With over 16 years experience in customer service, she has incorporated her passion for technology into her career choices. Before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, Heather worked for the Department of Defense in both the marine mammal and the robotics departments.

She loves baking and making jams. She knits, reads comic books and plays video games on the Wii and Playstation 3 whenever she can. Heather loves to spend all of her free time with her husband, Eric. Together, they maintain a small private zoo of four cats: Benny, June, Agnes and Fizzgig. Heather and her husband welcomed their daughter Vivien in 2012.



Susan Lyerly, Customer Service

Susan graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1987. She also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Nova-Southeastern University. After 14 years at Florida Power & Light Company in various engineering roles, she left the corporate world to raise her daughter and twin sons. She loves the challenge of organizing numbers and data. Susan and her family enjoy traveling anywhere tropical.



Ann Binns, Customer Service

Originally from Atlanta, Ann has lived in Charlotte NC since 1980. Ann has work experience in sales analysis, marketing, corporate training, and customer service. Additionally, she has a strong background in web design and the recreational and competitive dance world. She has a degree from Reinhardt University and also attended Georgia State University. Ann has 2 adult daughters - Katie (who is married Ann's favorite son-in-law, Michael) and Melissa, who attends Queens University. Ann now spends her time raising her 2 little 'duppy pogs' Maggie and Bo.



Debbie Near, Customer Service

Debbie is a proud native of North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration.

After graduation Debbie worked in the banking industry as an account analyst and in the data center. For the past 15 years she has worked part-time with her husband in his recruiting business handling most of the administrative, human resources and general office management duties.

In her spare time Debbie enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom and 2 grown children, Melissa and Chris. She enjoys volunteering at her church, and cherishes getting together with her friends where she loves getting in the occasional tennis game. Debbie LOVES going to the beach, any beach, whenever she can!

Now that their youngest child has left the nest she and her husband are focusing their attention on their 2 Malti-zhu's, Bailey & Gracie.



Gretchen Mann, Customer Service

Gretchen attended East Carolina University and after graduating in 1992 began working in Charlotte as a Family and Consumer Science Teacher. During the next 10 years she earned her Master's degree from Gardner Webb University in School Administration and worked her way through various roles throughout middle grades education. In 2003 she took on a new role of Stay At Home Mom to her two children, Meghan and Colson.

During summer 2011 Gretchen participated in writing a book, Emerge Victorious, along with a video and workbook series, and began working towards her certification as a Christian Divorce Coach. She works closely with individuals, teachers and other professionals in helping families with children through difficult transitional times.

In her free time, Gretchen loves hitting the tennis court for some healthy competition and exercise. She also enjoys reading, decorating, and water sports. Her favorite place to be is somewhere she can put her toes in the sand, listen to the sounds of the ocean, and smell the salt in the air!



Sandi Olson, Customer Service

Born in Eastern Canada, Sandi moved to Vancouver, British Columbia at an early age and considers herself a true 'West Coaster'. It became clear very early on that Sandi had an aptitude for numbers and she has followed this path throughout her career. Emerging from the Certified General Accountant's program at the University of British Columbia, Sandi joined a Global Mining Corporation as their Accounting Manager. Although the position was based in Vancouver, BC, the company's assets were located throughout South America, Africa and Asia which gave her a solid foundation in international commerce. Wanting to work closer to home, Sandi became the Office Manager and Bookkeeper for a local, family owned group of businesses including Property Management, various Salon and Spa ventures and a Hydraulic Machine Shop.

Sandi lives in Pitt Meadows, a suburb of Vancouver, with her husband and son. In her spare time she loves to decorate, enjoys photography and most recently has become a Certified Zumba Fitness Instructor.



Kristi Deese, Customer Service

Kristi has a diverse background which spans Retail Operations, Application Development and Support, Information Technology Consulting and Sales, and Strategic Planning. Most recently, Kristi owned and operated a business, Dream Dinners, for five years. She has a Bachelors degree in Business from the State University of New York at Albany and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

She and her husband have 2 sons: Jackson (who attends Appalachian State University) and Grayson. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and traveling (preferably to someplace with an ocean nearby).



Karen White, Customer Service

Karen graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Marketing and minor in Health Science. Karen spent 10 years in the banking industry before suspending her career to raise three boys. In addition to being a Mom, Karen served on several school committees and held a number of leadership roles in the Huntersville, NC community. Karen's abilities as a team player allow her to engage in productive brainstorming exercises to initiate change and consistently add value. Karen enjoys contact with customers and helping people find solutions.

In her spare time Karen enjoys walking, reading, water skiing, snow skiing and spending time with her family.



Jan Nielsen, Customer Service

Originally from Washington state, Jan developed a passion for customer support and software testing during her 16 years at The Boeing Company. In 1996 her husband took a transfer with Boeing to southern Maryland and she decided to try the stay-at-home mom position. After trapping herself in a bedroom for the greater part of a day during a do-it-yourself project, her daughters, Alex and Whitney, suggested she might want to consider returning to work (after they rescued her). The next 10 years were spent running her own retail arts and craft business. She currently enjoys knitting, crocheting, basket weaving and most things crafty. But most of all, her and her husband, Bob, adore hanging out with their grandson, Sam.
