Jackrabbit Tips & Tricks

The Story Behind Our Two ePayment Preferred Providers

Have you ever wondered why we have two ePayment preferred providers at Jackrabbit? This post is for you.

We are very transparent at Jackrabbit – from our owners all the way down to part time employees. We really pride ourselves in having this transparency with our customers. We consider our customers as working with us, not just using our product. When our customers thrive, we thrive.

Let’s go back one step – what are ePayments?

Credit card and bank account draft payments processed over the internet are referred to as ePayments.  If you’ve ever used a credit card to make a purchase over the internet, you’ve made an ePayment.

Jackrabbit’s ePayments integration allows you to process your customers’ credit cards or bank account drafts from within your database!  For you and your customers, the process is seamless, and the best part is that Jackrabbit doesn’t charge any extra fees to process ePayments!

What happens when you process payments through Jackrabbit? This can be confusing and we want to help you understand this process. If you have questions, please reach out to our Support team. They are there to help you!

Now, on to the real reason we created this post. We have been hearing questions regarding our two preferred providers in the ePayment section of the software. Like I said before, we are very transparent at Jackrabbit and want you to understand this partnership.

Why are there two providers?
Years ago, our Co-Founders wanted to expand Jackrabbit’s functionality to include processing payments. They wanted to save our customers more time and money in every way possible. Processing payments through the software would do just that. Now, Jackrabbit users can process ePayments through the same system that they take attendance, create schedules, email families, and so much more.

If you’ve done any research into the eCommerce world, there are an overwhelming amount of options! We spent quite some time researching this industry and speaking with companies. One important part of this process was finding people we could trust because ultimately we would be asking our customers to trust them too. As you know, trust is an important part of our relationship with each customer – as it is with you. Your customers trust you and your staff to keep their children safe, teach them skills, and have a good time. We at Jackrabbit are doing similar things but trust is at the core of all of this.

When we were researching the market, we decided to have two preferred providers. The reason for this is to keep the rates competitive and to ensure the best price for our customers. With two options, you have the opportunity to compare quotes and decide which company you’d like to work with. Our preferred providers are aware of this and have a positive relationship. This market is very competitive, but we are very glad that our providers will meat or beat another rate you have received.

Do I have to use one of Jackrabbit’s preferred providers?

If you want seamless integration with Jackrabbit, you will need to use a preferred provider. You may have a connection with an eCommerce company or have to use a certain company. Just last week, one of our customers said they’d love to work with one of our preferred providers, but they only run a portion of the business. The other side of the business organizes their data in a different format and the entire business has to be using that. Are you in a similar situation?

If you choose not to use one of our payment partners, then you will need to manually enter all ePayments made outside of Jackrabbit. You can only use the Refund button to record a refund, it does not automatically refund to the card. You are essentially operating in a NON-eCommerce mode. In essence, it is increasing your work load and treating every payment as if it were cash or check.

Once we picked two providers, our development team had to integrate our software with theirs. This is another time saver for our customers because you don’t have to go into your ePayment gateway or merchant account to process payments or refunds. Because it does take our developers to integrate the system, we are not integrating with any more partners at this time. With two preferred providers, we have options for our customers and can keep the rates competitive. The rates you receive are “forever rates” meaning they will never go up unless you request a rate review to potentially lower your rate.
